Enterprise Data Warehousing

The enterprise data warehouse of this organization had become quite slow after the re-platforming of their Oracle and Business Objects warehouse into the warehouse operating with MicroStrategy, Tableau, and custom .Net applications with Teradata database.

Our principals led a major performance tuning effort. The activities included: troubleshooting applications versus network to differentiate between web experiences and report execution time; fact-based optimization on SQL; implementation of development standards and guidelines; design and code reviews; migration approvals and performance review; implemented workload management; introduced the concept of ‘design for performance’; monitoring and measurement of usage; profiled data and brought visibility to data quality issues early and often.

This initiative resulted in a significant reduction of system resource usage and an improvement in production throughput and speed.
